When Jane Sylvester learned that the University was planning a show of classic cars to stretch through campus to the Centre for Engineering Innovation, she didn’t want to miss out, registering at her earliest opportunity.
“If they’re only going to let two cars represent 1969, I want it to be ours,” says Sylvester, employer relations coordinator in the Centre for Career Education and the proud owner of a 1969 Pontiac Firebird. Her husband owns a 1969 Chevy Camaro.
“We are happy to be a part of the celebration and are looking forward to seeing all of the classics lined up chronologically along Sunset Avenue,” Sylvester says.
The car show will run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 21, as part of the University’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend.
Registration is free for exhibitors, and organizers will offer awards for Best in Show and the People’s Choice in chronological categories: pre-war to 1949, 1950s, 1960s and ’70s, 1980s and ’90s, and 2000s.
