Students win recognition for video on management education
No matter what road you’re on, business is along for the ride, say Christian Janisse and Blake Pauls.
The two students of the Odette School of Business put that message at the heart of their video promoting collaboration with other disciplines as part of a balanced management education.
Their entry won special recognition in a competition asking how to prepare future students to be effective business leaders. Sponsored by the European Foundation for Management Development for its Undergraduate Management Education Conference, the Vision2020 contest invited students to present their ideas to shape the evolution of business schools.
It was a learning experience, acknowledges Janisse.
“It gave us a chance to look at how technology is going to be integrated in the future,” he says. “You can kind of see where some things are going to go.”
Business professor Francine Schlosser congratulated the Windsor team for a remarkable job.
“Blake and Christian volunteered to enter the competition and with only days to prepare their entry, they produced a highly competitive video—a very impressive result!” she said.
The video received support from the Centre for Enterprise and Law and was filmed by Liquid Wild, a media company partially owned by Odette alumni Steve Nicodemo and Paul Peladeau.
Dennis Hanno of the conference organizing committee said the video will find use during the October event.
“The judges felt that you had some very unique and creative ideas and presented them very nicely,” he told the students in notifying them of the results. “We will use your video to help management educators from around the world know what students themselves believe is needed to better prepare the next generation of managers.”
