Clothing and giftware bearing the University’s logo have proven popular well beyond the student body, says Jackie Imeson.
General merchandise buyer for the University Bookstore, she is responsible for purchasing and merchandising of these items as well as office, school and art supplies.
“Since the University unveiled its new logo in June, we have seen a lot of faculty and staff buying gear, as well as incoming students during Head Start and graduates at Convocation,” she says.
Imeson started in her new position in mid-June after years as trade books buyer, bringing in general reading for the campus community. She says the timing of the move was perfect.
“I came in just as there was so much excitement generated by our new products,” says Imeson. “Employees bought us out of some sizes of our dress shirts and blouses, but we have restocked and new items are coming in all the time.”
While construction continues on a new location in the lower level of the CAW Student Centre, the University Bookstore currently divides its operations—textbooks and stationery supplies in Vanier Hall’s Winclare C; and clothing and giftware at the first-floor kiosk in the CAW Student Centre.
Imeson would like to remind University departments that they are eligible for volume discounts on bulk orders of clothing, office or school supplies:
- orders above $100 retail receive 10 percent off;
- orders above $300 retail receive 20 percent off; and
- special orders for larger bulk purchases receive 25 percent off;
excepting textbooks, computers, gift cards, magazines and certain general reading books.
