Two UWindsor alumnae are among the 56 athletes who will represent Canada on the track at the 2013 Summer Universiade, July 7 to12 in Kazan, Russia.
Melissa Bishop (BHK 2010, B.Ed 2011) and Noelle Montcalm (BScN 2012) will suit up in the red and white; Bishop will run the 800-metre event, while Montcalm will compete in the 400-metre hurdles.

Bishop qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games last summer and placed sixth in her opening heat in London. Her efforts won her recognition as female track and field athlete of the year at the Windsor Essex County Sports Persons of the Year awards in April. During her Lancer career, she won a raft of honours at the national and provincial levels, as well as the 2010 Banner Shield as the University’s top female athlete.
Ontario University Athletics named Montcalm a Woman of Influence as one of the league’s top female scholar-athletes two years running; she also won back-to-back DeMarco Awards as the Lancers’ top female student-athlete and appointment to Canadian Interuniversity Sport Academic Top 8, recognizing the country's eight most outstanding student-athletes. Her accomplishments on the track include a five-medal performance at the 2011 CIS track and field championship meet.
