Jim Preston knows his Victoriana.
The retired campus police officer won Tuesday’s DailyNews contest and the prize of a desk clock embossed with the UWindsor logo provided by the Alumni Affairs office.
Preston’s name was drawn from all respondents who correctly answered questions about Queen Victoria, in whose honour Canadians celebrate the holiday weekend that marks the unofficial start of summer.
For those playing along at home, the correct answers are:
- Queen Victoria was born May 24, 1819.
- She was christened Alexandrina Victoria.
- She belonged to the House of Hanover.
- Her name is borne by Queen Victoria Public School in downtown Windsor and Victoria Public School in Tecumseh.
- Queen Elizabeth will have to reign until September 9, 2015, to surpass Victoria’s record of 63 years, seven months and three days.
