UWindsor doctoral candidates Chris Allan and Rebecca Williams will join 28 graduate students from across the province for the finals of the Three Minute Thesis competition today—Thursday, April 18—at Queen’s University.
The competition challenges researchers to offer a presentation on their thesis or dissertation topic to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes.
Allan and Williams finished first and second, respectively, in the UWindsor contest last month, qualifying them for today’s provincial final. Allan’s topic is “From your TV to the lab: exploring the reactivity of indium;” Williams will answer the question “Great Lakes Undercover: Can fish evolve to survive pollution?”
The competition gets underway at 4 p.m. Queen’s is providing live streaming of the event over the internet at http://www.queensu.ca/its/livestream/live.html. Williams will present ninth and and Allan 25th—the order of presentation is posted on the Ontario 3MT website.
