The City of Windsor agreed at its meeting Monday to a timetable for a grant of a total of $10 million in support of the University’s downtown campus initiatives.

The city will donate $500,000 on the formal closing of the transfer of the city-owned Armouries, bus depot, and Chatham Street parkette properties; $3 million on May 31; $3 million on September 30; and $3.5 million on January 31, 2014.

“This generous contribution will support our efforts to expand our presence downtown,” said Sandra Aversa, UWindsor vice-president, planning and administration. “We are extremely appreciative of this demonstrated support for revitalizing and diversifying the city’s core.”

The monies were committed by city council as part of its 2012 capital budget.
