A team of Windsor engineering students engaged in designing and building a radio-controlled aircraft are partnering with a local chain restaurant to raise money for the project.
The 2012 SAE Aero Design team has arranged to receive a percentage of the dinner proceeds at Kelsey’s Tecumseh location on Monday, February 27. The team will receive 10 per cent of food sales between 6 and 11 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 9 Amy Croft Drive in Tecumseh.
As part of their capstone project to complete their undergraduate degrees, the students will participate in a competition sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers, which will pit them against teams from other schools in a test of their aircraft – take off, flight and landing while carrying cargo.
Team members are raising funds to cover the costs of materials as well as registration and travel costs for the competition, says financial officer William Girard.
