In its meeting January 13, Senate voted to encourage instructors to allow students to participate in National Day of Action activities on February 1.
Organizers in Windsor plan a march starting at 11:30 a.m. in coordination with demonstrations nationwide calling for the reduction of tuition fees, reduction of student debt and increased education funding.
The resolution reads:
- Senate encourages instructors to make every effort to allow students to participate in the National Day of Action (February 1, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) without academic penalty (be it grades or otherwise) for being absent in such a case.
The move supports and encourages students to pursue acts of citizenship and engagement, said vice-provost, students and international, Clayton Smith.
Instructors who wish to change their course outlines may do so by January 18.
