A breakfast reception will take place December 8 to honour UWindsor employees who in 2010 reached milestones of 10, 20, 30 or 40 years of service to the University. Since this is the first annual years of service celebration, employees who have contributed beyond 40 years will also be recognized. Honourees will receive a gift and a Service Award.
The Years of Service Breakfast is part of a new program of employee recognition now in development by the Department of Human Resources. This event is in addition to the 25 Years of Service lunch which takes place annually in the spring.
“We have many dedicated employees who have contributed to the University over the years. Taking the time to recognize and honour their years of service milestones is critical” says Rita LaCivita, chief human resources officer. “It provides us with the opportunity to thank everyone for all of their efforts which contribute to our university’s success.”
Her department established the Employee Recognition Committee earlier this year to consider ways to promote and support employee recognition. The Years of Service Awards is one of the new recognition initiatives that resulted from the work of this committee.
Currently, the committee is in the process of designing an awards program to replace the President's Achievement Award, says Marcela Ciampa, chair of Employee Recognition Committee. The decision to replace this award is based on the input received over the years from many stakeholders including the President's Achievement Awards Committee.
The new Awards Program will provide an array of opportunities to recognize individuals and teams for their contributions to advancing the mission and vision of the University.
“An expanded awards program and event will be launched in February 2012,” Ciampa says.
