Ready to Launch!
“I joined the Erie St. Clair Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN) team mid-way through the development of a new web application. This application is comprised of a series of forms which contain a variety of information about our LHIN patients which has allowed our team to communicate more efficiently. Initially this web app was not visually appealing, Erie St. Clair LHIN brought me to their team to design and develop the front-end mechanics of this new application. This project is at the final stages and will be ready to launch for our team to use and share with all Erie St. Clair LHIN locations across Ontario”
Programming
“For this project I primarily used HTML, CCS, JAVASCRIPT, BOOTSTRAP, beyond using these languages, I used my Photoshop skills to design icons and even a logo for this application. We mainly used C#, .NET and VB for back-end and our framework is comprised of .NET, WCF, and MVC.”
Beyond the Classroom
“Some advice for new Master of Applied Computing students seeking an internship placement would be to find your interest, make it your strength and try to build skills Beyond the Classroom. Furthermore, take advantages of career related workshops. My internship coordinator Johanna said that communication and interview skills were not natural, and everyone needs to train to acquire and improve those skills. I follow Johanna’s regimen by reviewing sample interview questions, attending mock interviews, and participating in resume and cover letter workshops.”
