Emergency Call Boxes

The University of Windsor Special Constable Service currently maintains 270 emergency call boxes across campus, including the downtown campus. 

These emergency call boxes are two-way speakerphones that are programmed to dial Special Constable Service directly when the button is pushed ANY TIME of the day or night, 365 days a year.

There are a few variations of the emergency call boxes you will see around campus.


Emergency Blue Light Pole

There are a total of 27 outdoor emergency blue light poles located on campus. 

When a person presses the red emergency button, they can remain in direct verbal contact with the telecommunicator until police arrive. The flashing blue lights serve as a beacon to responding officers and others in the vicinity.

The Emergency Blue Pole is in operational mode 24/7 with Special Constable Service response.

Stainless Steel Emergency Call Box

This emergency box functions very similarly to the emergency blue light pole.

When a person presses the red emergency button, Special Constable Service are notified and the individual who pushed the button can remain in direct verbal contact with the telecommunicator until police arrive. 

The Emergency Call Box is in operational mode 24/7 with Special Constable Service response.

Yellow Emergency Call Box

This emergency call box functions the same as the Stainless Steel Emergency Call Box.

The Emergency Call Box is in operational mode 24/7 with Special Constable Service response.

Blue Emergency Button

When the button is pushed, Special Constable Service are notified and will respond to the location of the button. 

The Emergency Call Box is in operational mode 24/7 with Special Constable Service response.
