Engineering Undergraduate Awards, Scholarships and Bursaries 

The Faculty of Engineering has over 85 awards, scholarships and bursaries to support students on their educational journey. Sincere thanks to our donors and community partners for generously establishing these important scholarships that help our students succeed.

• Award granted to any FNMI who demonstrates financial need and is enrolled full-time in a STEM program at the University of Windsor

Carlo and Domenica Liburdi Memorial Award

• Annual award for a first or second year Engineering student at the University of Windsor
• Must have a minimum entering average of 75% or a minimum cumulative in-course average of 75%
• Must demonstrate financial need
• Must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status) residing in Ontario

Liburdi Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship in Materials Engineering

2023-03-31

• Award available to a 3rd year Materials Engineering student at the end of year 2, based on achieving high academic standing
• Award is renewable in year 4, provided the student remains a Materials Engineering student and in good academic standing
• Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident residing in Ontario
• Assigned - no application required

Yves Landry Memorial Scholarship

2022-04-30

• Up to four awards available to students entering Business Administration or Engineering programs from Ontario high schools.
• Must have a minimum scholarship average of 85%, demonstrate leadership potential and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
• Award may be renewable in subsequent years of study, provided that the student maintains a minimum cumulative average of 80% and demonstrates financial need.

Windsor Green Engineering Scholarships

• Up to four scholarships awarded annually to full-time first-year students who have chosen Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Environmental option)
• Eligible candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status) meeting OSAP requirements for residency and financial need
• Based on academic excellence - minimum 80% overall entrance average from high school or college, and must maintain a minimum cumulative average of 75% while in the program
• Award may be renewable in subsequent years of study to a maximum of 8 terms

Liburdi Engineering Mentorship Award

2023-01-31

• The Liburdi Engineering Mentorship Award provides two awards of $5,000 each to senior level undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering who excel in math and physics.
• The award is a three-term stipend to support the students in tutoring their peers in the WINONE Tutoring Program.
• The students are selected by the WINONE Office and no application is required.

ELEVATE - University of Windsor Female & Non-Binary Engineering Award

• Award available for female and non-binary identifying gender students admitted directly from High School to first-year Engineering
• Open to international and domestic students
• Cannot be held concurrently with the Black Students in Engineering Award or Indigenous Students in Engineering Award

Entrance Scholarship for Engineering Students - Mexico

• Award is available to students of Mexican citizenship entering Engineering directly from their high school year with a final admission average of 80%
• Recipients must register full-time (minimum 80% of a full course load) and maintain a cumulative average of 80% to retain the scholarship in Year 2, 3 and 4.

Frederick Atkins Scholarships

• Two awards for Canadian students entering Level 2 of Electrical Engineering
• Minimum average of 80% in each term of the preceding year
• Cannot concurrently hold another award of equal or greater value
• One award for Canadian student entering Level 4 of Electrical Engineering

Electrozad Foundation Scholarship Fund

• Four awards to the top students entering Year 2
• Two awards to students entering Year 4 with a cumulative average of 80% in Year 3
• One award to a female student entering Year 4 with a minimum average of 76% in each previous term

OSOTF - Engineering Bursary

DesRosiers Endowment for the Advancement of Automotive Studies

• The award will be based on a minimum cumulative average of 83% and demonstrated financial need.
• Eligible candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status) and meeting OSAP Ontario residency requirements.
• Preference will be given to a student pursuing automotive studies at the University of Windsor.

Dr. Howard D. McCurdy African Diaspora Memorial Scholarship

• Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student in year 3 of study in any Science or Engineering program.
• Applicants must self identify as being of black African descent and be in good standing with a minimum cumulative average of 80%.
• Recipient must be Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (includes those with Protected Persons status).

Frank J. Ewasyshyn Electrical Engineering In-Course Scholarship

Ontario Power Generation University Engineering Award

• Awarded annually to a student of an employment equity designated group (woman, aboriginal, disabled, or visible minority)
• Entering Level 2 of electrical, mechanical, chemical, or environmental engineering
• Must have strong communication and leadership skills, involvement in extracurricular activities and a minimum cumulative average of 75%
• Not tenable with more than one other award of equal or greater value
• Legally eligible to work in Canada upon graduation and receive priority consideration for a developmental work term following second year

Frances and Gordon Halfpenny Memorial Scholarship

• Must provide a short statement outlining what leadership means to them, along with past and/or current examples of their leadership abilities and/or outline how she plans to play a leadership role in a chosen field

ENWIN & Windsor Utilities Commission Scholarship in Memory of Alison J. Edwards Award

Professor Budkowska Undergraduate Bursary Fund

• Awarded to a full-time female undergraduate student enrolled in year 3 or 4 of a Civil Engineering program
• Based on academic merit and financial need
• Preference given to student with highest grades in foundational engineering courses related to Dr. Budkowska's research focus of geotechnical engineering, as determined by the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering

Windsor Regional Science, Technology, and Engineering Fair Gold Medal Admission Award

Assigned

• University of Windsor will award a Gold Medal-winning student/s from the Windsor Regional Science, Technology and Engineering Fair (WRSTEF)
• Award will be applied to the tuition fees when the student/s is/are registered in an undergraduate Science or Engineering program at the University of Windsor
• In the case of a partner project, each student will receive a $1000 award

Vera & Nicholas Sitar Memorial Award

• Awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student entering year 2, 3 or 4 in the Environmental Sciences or Civil and Environmental Engineering program
• Must have a minimum cumulative average of 80%
• Awarded to a student in the School of Environmental Science in even years, and to a student in Civil and Environmental Engineering in odd years
• Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status)
• This award can not be combined with other merit-based awards

Xerox Canada Scholarships

• Two in-course awards, alternating yearly between Music/Visual Arts and Engineering/Computer Science
• Based on academic performance (75% min. cumulative average), financial need, and demonstrated advancement and understanding in Information Technology Literacy

Tony Soda Memorial Scholarship

• Awarded annually to an outstanding student entering Year 2 of Civil Engineering.

Dr. Sourindra Dutta Memorial Scholarship in Industrial Engineering

John William Beveridge Award

Cameron MacInnis Memorial Award

• Annual award for qualified 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Engineering student
• Award based on academic potential (minimum cumulative average of 73% required), community and/or faculty involvement, and demonstration of financial need
• Preference will be given to applicants whose demonstrated interests and activities extend beyond the mere application of mathematics, physics and science
• Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (includes those with Protected Persons status) residing in Ontario

Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education Undergraduate Scholarships

• Scholarships are available for students registered in the Faculty of Engineering in Year 2, 3 or 4.
• Awards are based on high academic achievement and demonstrated leadership through involvement in professional affairs and extra-curricular activities.

Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education Entrance Scholarships

Robert J. Lavigne Memorial Scholarship

• The Robert J. Lavigne Logistics and Transportation Award is an annual award given to a student taking courses in Transportation Logistics, Internal Logistics (Operations Management) and/or Supply Chain
• To be eligible, candidates must have a minimum cumulative average of 75% and demonstrate financial need
• The award is established in memory of Robert J. Lavigne, former traffic manager at Hiram Walker, an individual passionate about logistics and transportation

• Must have been admitted to the university through a transfer from an Advanced Technology diploma at a College
• Must have successfully completed 10 courses at the University of Windsor, with a minimum cumulative average of 80%
• Preference given to students admitted to a BASc program in Mechanical, Automotive & Material Engineering (excluding Industrial Engineering)

Dr. Sek Por Chee Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Murty K.S. Madugula Memorial Scholarship

• The Murty K.S. Madugula Memorial Award is awarded to a 4th year student in the Faculty of Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering discipline.

Shawn Yates Memorial Scholarship in Engineering

• Must be in semester four or higher, preferably enrolled in Automotive Engineering option.
• Awarded based on academic excellence, with a minimum 80% cumulative average required.
• Financial need may be a consideration.
• Students must outline their volunteer and extracurricular activities.

Dr. Ibrahim Erfani Undergraduate Scholarship in Engineering

• Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program who has special needs or a documented disability.
• Must be registered with the Student Accessibility Office and have a minimum cumulative average of 80%.
• Financial need may be a consideration.
• Intended to recognize a student’s determination, perseverance and commitment to the advancement of their Engineering education.

FIRST Robotics - Faculty of Engineering

•This award is given to participants of the FIRST Robotics - Windsor Essex Great Lakes District Event held in March/April.
•It is awarded to those who subsequently enroll in a Faculty of Engineering program.
•The award is given to participants in order to recognize their commitment to the field of engineering and to encourage them to pursue their engineering studies.
•The award provides financial support to the awardees in order to help them cover the costs associated with their engineering studies.

• Award is granted annually to an undergraduate or graduate student working on research related to energy.
• Nomination for the award is made by Professors in the Faculty of Engineering from the Turbulence & Energy Laboratory.
• No application is required for the award.

Engineering Students' Society Community Contribution Award

• Must demonstrate commitment to community involvement/professional organizations

Guy Ballard Awards
