  1. What is BE?
    • BE stands for Biotechnology Entrepreneurship the two building blocks of our team. We are based in Windsor, Ontario and seek to build a biotechnology entrepreneurship community.
       
  2. What is the BE Symposium?
    • The Biotechnology Entrepreneurship (BE) Symposium is a one-day event featuring distinguished speakers from across North America all working towards laying out the pathway from bench to market. This event takes place at the University of Windsor, and registration for the event is now open.
       
  3. What is the BIS Competition?
    • The Bio Innovative Solutions Competition is a proposal-based challenge to find a solution to a problem in the field of biotechnology and develop a strategic business plan to execute it. No prototypes are necessary but the science and business should be well-thought out and possible. Registration is now open for the 2015 competition.
       
  4. Where is the Symposium held?
    • The BE Symposium 2015 will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at the University of Windsor, Ambassador Auditorium.

  5. Where is the Competition held?
    • The team registration and proposal submission are to be completed online.
    • The final pitch competition will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at the University of Windsor, Amabassador Auditorium, as part of the BE Symposium.
       
  6. How do I get to the University of Windsor?
    • The directions to the University of Windsor is available online at: http://www.uwindsor.ca/getting-here
    • The BE Symposium is located on the Main Campus of the University of Windsor at the Ambassador Auditorium in the CAW Student Centre.
    • The University of Windsor is approximately:
      • 16 minutes from the Windsor Airport
      • 10 minutes from the VIA Rail Train Station
      • 7 minutes from the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel
      • 6 minutes from the Greyhound Bus Station
      • 4 minutes from the Ambassador Bridge
      • Note: Times are based on travel by car.

  7. Where should I stay while in Windsor?
    • We have a group discount at the Waterfront Hotel in Windsor, Ontario.
       
  8. I have a dietary restriction, will there be something for me to eat?
    • Please contact us directly with any concerns so that we can better help you, beuwin@uwindsor.ca.
    • There will be vegetarian (no meat, fish, eggs), and non-vegetarian options. Vegan options include (salad, fruit, potatoes). If you have any concerns please contact us at beuwin@uwindsor.ca.
       
  9. I am a nurse, and would like to use this event to meet my Quality Assurance goals?
  10. I am not sure if my idea qualifies for the BIS Competition?
    • Contact us at beuwin@uwindsor.ca with a short description of your idea and we will let you know if your idea qualifies.
    • If the deadline for team registration/proposal submission is close then it is highly recommended that you register your team and submit your proposal.
       
  11. What are the prizes for BIS Competition?
    • First Place: $1000
    • Second Place: $500
    • Third Place: $250
