Digital Print Lab - Prices & Procedures

PLEASE NOTE: Our regular procedures have been disrupted due to the ongoing situation with the pandemic. At this time there is no in-person printing available for students. Please refer to information from your instructor about procedures for printing. 
If you have questions or need assistance please reach out to the area technician. 

Students must pre-pay for all test prints, proofs, and final prints at The Stockroom in the Armouries building before printing. HST will be added to the prices.

You must give your receipt to the Student Assistant before you can print.

EPSON 9880/9890

Please sign up for a 20-minute slot if you have ONE large (ie 17" X 22") or TWO small images to print.
You can only sign up for THREE consecutive 20-minute slots at one time.
If you have more than three images to print at one time, please advise the Student Assistant in advance.
If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will lose your slot if someone else needs to print.
Please remove your name from the schedule if you are unable to show up for your session.
The Digital Print Lab cannot provide assistance in the preparation of your images for printing.  Please have your images ready to print prior to arriving for your session.

Lab Schedules and Lab Cancellations

The Digital Print Lab operates with the help of work-study students. Although Digital Print Lab staff make every effort to keep the Lab hours consistent throughout each semester, there will be some times when the Lab will be closed during scheduled lab hours for training, servicing, or other extenuating circumstances. Lab hours do change from semester to semester. The most up-to-date scheduling information is always posted by the Lab door.

**IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU PRINT A TEST PRINT BEFORE PRINTING LARGE SCALE IMAGES**

Minimum Recommended Test Print Size is 5” X 44” or 5” X 24”

Calibrated Monitors

The monitors in the Digital Print Lab and four monitors in the Digital Video Imaging Lab (LeBel, Rm 126) are calibrated with the X-Rite ColorMunki to better mimic the digital printing process. The monitors are calibrated on a bi-weekly basis. Calibrated monitors allow students to soft proof their images prior to printing.

Digital Lab – CALIBRATED MONITORS

Computers 5,6,7 & 8 in the Digital Video Imaging Lab have calibrated monitors that can be used for soft-proofing images that will be printed on the Epson 9890.

Flat Bed Scanner

A self-serve flat-bed scanner (13” x 17” scanning bed) is available during regular lab hours on a first-come-first-served basis.

• Use a Mylar sheet on the glass if you’re scanning anything other than dry paper
• Use a Mylar sheet if you’re scanning objects.
• If you’re scanning anything wet bring 2 sheets of your own Mylar to protect both the glass and the inside of the cover.
• Note: Slide and negative scanning is not available on this scanner, but is available on scanners in the DVIL
