Research and Teaching Areas

Dr. Maticka-Tyndale’s research focuses on sexual rights and citizenship especially among marginalized populations and HIV prevention. She has led or co-led 31 research projects with partners in Canada, the United States, Europe, Africa, and South and Southeast Asia. In her research, she uses a collaborative research model working with government, community-based and advocacy organizations, health units, and local and international non-government organizations. Her research has led to over 150 publications; development of HIV-prevention programming deployed over provinces, states, and entire countries; and has influenced changes in legislation, as well as in the delivery of sexual health services.

Recent Courses Taught

Dr. Maticka-Tyndale has taught courses in sexuality, health, and research methods both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As FAHSS Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, she has not taught courses as of late.
