Biography
JIM COYLE is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work who teaches undergraduate and graduate courses about theories and skills for Social Work practice. His current research examines the nature of resilience in families affected by chronic or acute adversity, the impact of community resilience factors on families and individuals, and interventions that improve community and family resilience. He is also studying social workers’ professional writing skills. In addition, Dr. Coyle has worked as a social work practitioner for over 20 years in numerous settings, including child welfare, mental health, couples and family treatment, outpatient medical centre, and individual, family, and group psychotherapy practice. He has presented to numerous community groups and provided training for human services professionals about child/teen behaviour problems, preventing and reducing adolescent violence, sexuality, impact and treatment of trauma, relationship problems, counselling multi-problem families, and counselling families with adopted children.
