Dr. Jill Singleton-Jackson is an award-winning teacher. She has won the Kathleen E. McCrone teaching award twice. She was selected for the Excellence in Teaching Award by the University of Windsor Student Alliance for 2009-2010. She also won the award for excellence in teaching given by the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance in 2010. Dr. Singleton-Jackson was nominated for the OCUFA Teaching Award in 2011.

She has been at the University of Windsor since 2003 and is a Professor in Applied Social Psychology. She received her honours BA in psychology from Oklahoma State University. She received her MA in Community Psychology from Wichita State University.

Dr. Singleton-Jackson’s PhD is in Higher Education with an emphasis on teaching and learning theory from the University of North Texas. Her research interests include teaching and learning, online learning, academic entitlement, and the first-year experience. She was the past Undergraduate Chair and the Coordinator of Introductory Psychology for the department. Currently, Dr. Singleton-Jackson is the Associate Dean, Student Experience and Inter-Faculty Programs for the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

Dr. Singleton-Jackson is passionate about teaching and takes a great interest in both the academic, professional, and personal development of her students. Her teaching philosophy includes a deep and abiding belief that education is intended to change people – to make them thinkers who become informed and responsible citizens regardless of their discipline or area of expertise. She teaches so that she can contribute to the effort to train thoughtful, compassionate, rational members of society.
