Dr. Muhammad Asaduzzaman joins us from Lakehead University as an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science. His research in software engineering focuses on improving software systems by leveraging the large volume of information stored in software repositories. This research is a blend of empirical theories and their associated tools to support software development tasks and to increase the productivity of developers.
Dr. Shaoquan Jiang joins us as an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at the University of Windsor after working at the department as a Limited-Term Assistant Professor since 2020. His teaching and research interests are security protocols, network security, blockchain, post-quantum and quantum cryptography, and cybersecurity education.
Dr. Shafaq Khan joins us from Zayed University in the UAE and at University of Dubai, UAE as an Assistant Professor. Her current research interests are in machine learning, deep learning, data analytics, and databases.
Dr. Prashanth Cheluvasai Ranga has over 20 years of teaching experience in various universities across the US, India and Canada. His teaching and research areas include: High-Performance Computing, Systems Programming, Algorithms, Operating Systems, and Database Design.
Dr. Kalyani Selvarajah joins us as an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science and previously worked in the broad area of Social Network Analysis and Knowledge Graph Analysis at the University of Windsor. Her research concerns team formation, link prediction, and information retrieval using deep learning and machine learning.
Dr. Aznam Yacoub has been a Limited-Term Assistant Professor at the University of Windsor since 2020. His research areas include: the intersection of Cognitive Science, Cognitive Computing, Multimedia and Software Engineering, with research work focusing on modelling the human mind and creating a computing system simulating awareness and consciousness.

Dr. Riham Al-Saadi joins the School of Social Work as an Assistant Professor. Her research and scholarly interests center around applying Critical Race Theory Lens and adopting intersectionality to further understand acculturation and adjustment experiences of immigrants and refugees in Canada, with some focus on Arab immigrant and refugee populations.
Dr. Carlo Handy Charles joins us from McMaster University and the CNRS Laboratoire Caribéen de Sciences Sociales, Université des Antilles as an Assistant Professor in Sociology and Criminology. His research areas include International Migration, Transnationalism, Diaspora Studies, Sexualities, Socio-economic Inequality, Haiti, the Caribbean, the Americas, Europe, Francophonie.
Dr. Geoffrey Callaghan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Windsor. He earned his Ph.D. in Legal and Political Philosophy at McMaster University and holds a Master of Studies in Law (MSL) from the University of Toronto. He was a postdoctoral fellow at McGill Law and a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto Law School. His research lies at the intersection of legal, political and social thought, having published on topics ranging from judicial process, to styles of political representation, to conceptual forays into politics and the law. He is currently working on a large-scale project (funded by SSHRC) examining the role and influence of interveners on court proceedings at both the Supreme Court and lower court levels.
Dr. Gregg French previously held Limited-Term Appointments with the University of Prince Edward Island and the University of Windsor and joins us as an Assistant Professor in the History Department. His research in the field of history explores the formation of racial identities and projections of imperial power in the U.S. colonial empire. Through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), his research focuses on HyFlex learning environments and the pedagogical approaches associated with teaching U.S. History in Canadian classrooms.
Dr. Festus Moasun joins us from University of Regina in Saskatchewan as an Assistant Professor with the School of Social Work. His research center on (dis)Ability and mental health in the global south, immigrant populations, decoloniality and the politics of knowledge creation.
Dr. Aidan Moir joins us as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication, Media, and Film. Gaining her PhD from York University, she previously taught at Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Toronto Mississauga and Scarborough campuses. Her research analyzes how brand culture influences the way campaigns (whether political campaigns, advertising campaigns, or social advocacy campaigns) circulate through popular culture. Increasingly, her research focuses on social media, such as the use of TikTok as a form of digital outreach for political parties and how brands like Rare Beauty use newer platforms like BeReal to extend their promotional communities.
Dr. Danielle Price joins us from James Madison University in Virginia, USA, as an Associate Professor in English and Creative Writing. She writes on children’s literature, 19th -century studies, and disability. Her monograph, Speech and Silence in Contemporary Children’s Literature, will be published this fall.
Dr. Jason Sandhar joins us from Western University as an Assistant Professor in English and Creative Writing. His research topics of interest include: postcolonial ecocriticism, Indian literature, critical animal studies, phenomenology, existentialism and philosophical pessimism.
Dr. Cam Sibblis joins us as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology.
Dr. Kathryn Szechy joins from Wayne State University in Detroit, USA, as an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. Her research topics include challenges in the transition to adulthood for individuals on the autism spectrum, including post-secondary education and employment. She studies the intersections of disability and social, racial, and economic disadvantage through the lens of the social media of disability.
Dr. Wesley Tourangeau will be joining us in January 2024 from the University of Lincoln, UK, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology. He is an interdisciplinary critical criminologist specializing in animal and environmental harms, agricultural regulations and discourses, and systems thinking. His research spans three overlapping areas: (1) re-defining harms within green criminology, (2) power and influence in food and farming discourses, and (3) policies and practices that connect agricultural systems to climate change and sustainable transformations.
Dr. Carol Wade joins us as an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. Her research interests include child welfare systems and practice, youth engagement, equity integration practice and transfer of knowledge to practice, and understanding the influence of historical trauma on current-day parenting. Her research also focuses on direct social work practice, with an interest in clinical supervision and self-reflexivity practice.
Odette School of Business
Dr. Pushpinder Gill joins us from the University of Tennessee, USA, as an Assistant Professor in the Odette School of Business. He holds a PhD in marketing from Iowa State University. His work explores intricate facets of franchising and customer experience. His work has been published in premier marketing journals such as Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Mahsa Hosseini joins us from University of Toronto as a lecturer with the Odette School of Business. Her research interest areas focus on problems in operations management, specifically service operation, online platforms, sharing economy, diversity, and fairness.
Dr. Yawo Mamoua Kobara joins us from the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor in the Odette School of Business. His research interests include: application of statistical, operational, and machine learning methods to social problems, especially healthcare system flow optimization and financial engineering.
Dr. Yanhong Li joins us from the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa, as an Assistant Professor in the Odette School of Business. Her research interests are grounded in a desire to contribute to a better world and are centered around positive organizational scholarship, particularly the three interconnected areas: courage in the workplace, employee well-being, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
David Van Rijt joins us as a Lecturer in the Odette School of Business.
Dr. Maha Tantawy joins us from University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business as an Assistant Professor. She is passionate about developing the field of entrepreneurship education among university level students. In addition, her research examines entrepreneurial orientation and sustainability.
Dr. Matthew Wilson joins us from Central Michigan University as an Assistant Professor, Marketing, in the Odette School of Business. His research involves the circular economy, reverse logistics, and the intersection of technology and marketing. He has been published in numerous outlets including Psychology & Marketing, Business Horizons, and European Journal of Marketing.

Juliet Bushi joins us as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Education.
Dr. Jean Kaya joins us from the University of Calgary as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education. His research magnifies how critical literacies in teacher education may serve to mediate social justice issues and engage communities in equitable practices and transformative social action. It also focuses on teachers' intercultural learning, identities, experiences, and perspectives to inform decisions regarding the support they need to enhance their practices and students’ experiences.
Dr. Alleson Mason joins us as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education. Her research explores the important learning that takes places outside of schools, Black community education programs, community engagement and activism in education, and the experiences of Black students in the Canadian K-12 education system.

Adeyemi Adesina joins us in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Dr. Mina Lee joins us from University of Waterloo as an Assistant Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Her research focuses on reliability-based sustainability assessment in geotechnical engineering, life cycle assessment of geotechnical structures, and resilience assessment of geotechnical infrastructure systems.
Dr. Abimbola Grace Oyeyi joins us from the University of Waterloo as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Her research explores sustainability, resilience and durability of pavements, sustainable transportation development, sustainable construction materials, smart pavements, and climate change impacts on transportation infrastructure.
Dr. Caniggia Viana joins us from the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Caniggia’s research is focused on enabling better, cheaper, and more sustainable electric vehicles.
Faculty of Human Kinetics
Dr. Shanthi Johnson has been appointed to the position of vice-president, research and innovation, effective July 1, 2023. The position reports to the University’s president and vice-chancellor. In her role, Dr. Johnson is responsible for advancing UWindsor’s research culture by enhancing the development of interdisciplinary research teams, expanding partnership opportunities, capitalizing on strategic research funding, and supporting student and community engaged research. Most recently, she served at the University of Alberta as professor and dean of the School of Public Health.
Dr. Johnson also joins us as a professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Faculty of Human Kinetics. Her research will continue to focus on falls/injury prevention, aging in place in rural communities, and social isolation among immigrant and refugee seniors and she will be working with students and faculty on the aging and health research program.
Dr. Kristen Morrison joins us from the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology. Her research focuses on the use of strategy to guide organizational efforts that support the growth and sustainability of community sport organizations. This includes bridging different perspectives related to social work, recreation, leisure, kinesiology, as well as management and leadership to contribute to current theory while also responding to critical issues facing community sport.

Dr. Sebastian Gyamfi joins us from Western University as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing. Dr. Gyamfi’s research focuses on Mental Health Promotion among vulnerable populations. His research areas include Stigma and Mental Illness, Mental Health Equity, Structural Violence, Influences of Religiocultural Beliefs, Stigma Perception Appraisal, Housing and Homelessness.
Amanda McEwen has held multiple roles in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Windsor, including Clinical Instructor and Simulation Facilitator, and most recently as AAS II - Experiential Learning Specialist. She has been appointed as a Learning Specialist, AAS II in the Faculty of Nursing. Her areas of research interest include: simulation in nursing education, hand hygiene adherence and healthcare associated infections, and effect moderation/interaction effects (research methodology).
Dr. Jane Simanovski joins from Henry Ford Health as a Nurse Practitioner and Nurse-Scientist in the Faculty of Nursing. Dr Simanovski’s goals for research include conducting a high-impact scholarship to advance science in the area of lung transplantation, patient centered outcome measures, and to help bridge the research-to-practice gap across hospitals and academia.

Dr. Daniel Del Gobbo joins us from McGill University as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law. His research falls at the intersections of civil procedure, dispute resolution, and equality law, with a particular focus on gender and sexuality issues. He is interested in exploring how legal institutions can be redesigned to promote more fair, equal, and accessible outcomes for historically marginalized groups, with a focus on the rights of women and LGBTQ2 people. Access to justice and social justice are closely interrelated. He is committed to thinking more creatively, holistically, and systematically about the possibilities of law to bring about social transformation.

Dr. Anna Kozarova joins us as an Assistant Professor to AAS-Learning Specialist in Biomedical Sciences within the Faculty of Science. Her research areas include cancer biology, epigenetics, cell cycle regulation and post translational modifications.
Clinton Jacobs joins us in the Department of Integrative Biology.
Dr. Caio Licciardi joins us as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics. Previously he held a joint appointment at SNOLAB and Arthur B. McDonald Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research Institute where he was a Research Scientist and Adjunct Faculty with the Physics Department at Carleton University. His research interests lie on the fundamental questions of how the Universe works and his expertise is in astroparticle and nuclear physics.
Dr. Ali Saber joins us from the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor with the School of Environment. His research focuses on the responses of inland and coastal waters to climate change and release of anthropogenic contaminants. This involves field measurements and lab experiments followed by modeling the mixing and transport of contaminants and associated biogeochemical reactions in receiving waters using 3D hydrodynamic-water quality models, machine learning, and statistical models. Another facet of his work is developing signal processing tools and ensembles of mechanistic and artificial intelligence models to assess climate change impacts on the hydrological cycle and risk of flooding due to extreme precipitation events and storm surges in coastal areas.
Dr. Edward Timko joins us from Georgia Institute of Technology, located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. His research is in operator theory and operator algebras, specializing in constrained families of operators and multivariate operator theory.
