Retirement Incentive 2025

In February 2025, the Windsor University Faculty Association (WUFA) and the University of Windsor reached an agreement to offer a voluntary retirement incentive option – or Voluntary Contract Termination (VCT) – to WUFA members over the normal retirement age of 65.

The retirement incentive is a limited-time opportunity for eligible WUFA members to elect to retire on June 30, 2025 (or later if they are exhausting accumulated leave banks). In return, eligible WUFA members will receive either a lump-sum payment equivalent to 12 months of regular salary or salary continuance for 12 months.

The deadline to apply for the voluntary retirement incentive is May 15, 2025.

This webpage is designed to assist interested WUFA members with their transition into retirement.

Notwithstanding Article 14 of the Collective Agreement between the parties, members, including AAS members and librarians whose Normal Retirement Date is July 1, 2025 and who are beyond 65 years of age shall be permitted to end their employment with the University through voluntary contract termination.

The University will send individual emails to each person on the eligibility list before March 3, 2025 to provide details of the VCT option available to them, any leave banks owed to the member, and the deadline to apply (May 15, 2025).

Eligible WUFA members must inform the University by no later than May 15, 2025, if they wish to accept the offer by notifying the University of their interest by emailing vpacademic@uwindsor.ca and copying WUFA (wufa@uwindsor.ca).

Following notice of interest, the University will send eligible WUFA members detailed information with essential financial and contractual matters explained, including payment options and release forms regarding acceptance of the VCT offer.

The VCT arrangement will be final and binding after the member and the employer have read and signed the formal documents.
