Master of Arts, Political Science (2021)

Family Tribute

Adam Malou Akot Dhal was a great father, mentor, leader, and friend. Not only to his family and community, but to those he encountered on an everyday basis. Born in 1959, Adam took a risk in leaving a war-torn South Sudan in pursuit of a better life. When arriving in Canada in 1989, Adam pioneered an effort to create a community for his family, and relatives not just in South Sudan but worldwide. Adam later married in 1991 to his wife Roza Liyai and created a family of six children and two grandchildren. Despite having the substantial responsibilities of raising a family, working a full-time job, and being a leader in the South Sudanese community, Adam was determined to pursue a higher education. He had worked meticulously, and dilligently and was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science in 2014. Adam then went on to work towards a Masters Degree in Political Science at the University of Windsor. Adam stands as an example to all that through determination, patience, faith, and purpose you can achieve anything you put your mind to. May Adam rest in peace.
