Pay & Display Parking
We offer convenient pay-as-you-go parking options on campus. Parking is available in various locations, payable by HONK mobile or at pay-and-display stations. Parking in the campus garage is also available on an ad hoc basis and can be paid for by credit card at the exit. To locate these parking areas, please refer to the campus parking map.
New Parking Options on Campus
Short-term parking is now available at the Welcome Centre Lot (2585 Wyandotte St. W., formerly the 7-Eleven location). This lot offers up to three hours of parking at $3 per hour, with payment handled exclusively through HONK mobile. Please note, that this lot is reserved for short-term use and is not available to permit holders.
For permit holders, Lot B and Lot D, conveniently located under the Ambassador Bridge, are now fully accessible, providing additional options for campus parking.
These updates are part of ongoing efforts to enhance parking flexibility and convenience on campus. Learn more about expanded campus parking options.
Using the Parking Garage
UwinCARD Required for Entry and Exit: You must have an active student UwinCARD to enter and exit the parking garage. Your UwinCARD is mandatory for access.
Entering the Garage:
- When you approach the garage entrance, locate the 24x24 grey box on the driver’s side, adjacent to the entrance.
- Swipe your UwinCARD at this box. Wait for the green light to confirm that your card has been read and the gate will open.
Exiting the Garage:
- Swipe your UwinCARD again at the grey box when exiting the garage.
- Do not exit the garage at an open gate. Always wait for the gate to close and swipe your UwinCARD to exit properly. If you don’t, you won’t be able to get back in the garage the next time you enter.
Important Reminder: To ensure your UwinCARD works correctly, you must swipe in at entry and swipe out at exit. If you do not complete this loop, the system will not recognize your entry, and you will be prevented from entering the garage again.
Please note: Parking Garage Permit Holders are limited to parking in the garage only and do not have access to surface lots, except for South Campus Lots, TLC, and Stadium when using the Lancer Recreation Centre.
- Enter: Access the parking garage from California Avenue.
- Get a Ticket: Push the grey button at the gate to receive a ticket.
- Park: Find a spot and take your ticket with you.
- Pay at the Kiosk: Before returning to your car, use the kiosk at the North West entrance (1st level) to pay. The kiosk accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Debit. The kiosk is the only location that accepts American Express and Debit.
- Exit: After paying, take your validated ticket to the exit gate. Insert your ticket into the slot marked "ticket" (not the credit card slot) to open the gate.
- Avoid Paying at the Gate: Don’t use the exit gate to pay unless it’s an emergency. Paying at the kiosk speeds up the process for everyone. Please note, that the exit gate only accepts credit cards (Visa or Mastercard).
License Plate Recognition (LPR)
With the 2024-2025 launch of License Plate Recognition (LPR) parking technology on campus, please be reminded that your license plate is your parking permit. Please note that up to three vehicles may be registered to your permit, with one vehicle permitted to park on campus at a time. If multiple vehicles must be on campus simultaneously, you can park your additional vehicle at one of our paid lots through HONK.
Student Parking Application
The student parking application is required for the following:
- Students living in residence
- Accessible student permit holders
Please complete a ticket through the UWindsor Self-Service Client Portal to submit your student parking application for review.
