According to a Toronto Star article, today marks 100 days since the beginning of the occupation at what Haudenosaunee land defenders have called 1492 Land Back Lane and where Foxgate Developments — a joint venture by Losani Homes and Ballantyne Homes — still hopes to build a 218-unit subdivision, called McKenzie Meadows.
“It’s a conflict of laws,” says Associate Dean (Academic) Beverly Jacobs. “Where do you find resolution of any conflict of laws when it’s based on two sovereign nations? That’s the big question.”
Resolving these thorny questions, Dr. Jacobs adds, is the real work of reconciliation.
