The Office of Human Rights, Equity and Accessibility (OHREA) award individuals and groups for their contributions towards advancing human rights, social justice, diversity, inclusivity, mental health, employment equity, and accessibility at the University of Windsor.
This year, three of the five awards were presented to members of the Windsor Law community.
First-year law student and political science graduate, Nicholas Harris, was recognized with the Accessibility Award. This award is given to a person/group/unit in recognition of outstanding contributions toward advancing accessibility at the University of Windsor.
Professor Beverly Jacobs was awarded the Human Rights and Social Justice Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions in creating a culture of respect for human rights in the University community.
In addition, a new award was introduced this year to honour those who have contributed to engaging students, faculty or staff in removing the stigma associated with mental illness, removing barriers for inclusion, and recognizing and promoting mental health wellbeing. The law student group, “Snakes and Lancers” were recognized as the new mental health champions.
Please join us in congratulating our Windsor Law colleagues for their outstanding efforts in advancing human rights, social justice, diversity, inclusivity, mental health, employment equity, and accessibility at the University of Windsor.
