Tawfik addresses Senate Liberal Open Caucus Meeting

On March 1, Professor Myra Tawfik was invited by Senator Art Eggleton to address a Senate Liberal Open Caucus meeting in Ottawa. The subject of the session was “Countering Counterfeits” and Professor Tawfik spoke about the difficulties Canadian innovative start-ups face in relation to global online counterfeiting and piracy. Among the others speaking at the session was Windsor Law Grad Georgina Danzig '88.

Smit Honoured for Refugee Work

Professor Anneke Smit will be recognized with The Windsor Essex Local Immigration Partnership's Welcoming Community Award at a forum on March 2. 

Professor Smit's research includes her work on the rights of refugees and internally displaced persons. She has led efforts across Canada to advocate for those fleeing violence in Syria and she serves on the steering committees of the organizations Canada4Refugees and Scholars at Risk.

Moot Team Invited to Oral Rounds of Oxford IP Moot

Windsor Law has been selected to participate in the oral rounds of the 15th Annual Oxford International Intellectual Property Law Moot Competition. Twenty-four teams over a total of 59 written submissions were invited to participate this year.

The student team members, Ruebe James (2L), Sanjeevan Shivakumar (3L), and Shannon Uhera (3L), and their coach, Professor Pascale Chapdelaine, will travel to the University of Oxford next month to participate in the world-renowned competition.
