“Our focus in this chapter is on SDG 9 – that is, the goal to ‘build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation’.  Within SDG 9, we further limit our discussion to the goal of fostering innovation, and do not concern ourselves with infrastructure or industrialization. Further, even though only SDG 9 identifies fostering innovation as a goal, it should be recognized that, because of the interconnected nature of SDGs as a whole, there are aspects of other SDGs and targets that affect, and are affected by, actions directed at fostering innovation.”
