Kaitlyn Drury and Imad Alame have been awarded Board of Governors Medals
for achieving the highest academic standing in their respective law programs.
Two Windsor Law graduates will be honoured for their outstanding academic achievements during the University of Windsor’s Fall Convocation ceremony.
Imad Alame, who obtained his law degree from Windsor Law’s Juris Doctor program this spring, and Kaitlyn Drury, who obtained her Canadian and American law degrees from Windsor Law & Detroit Mercy Law’s Dual Juris Doctor program this spring, achieved the highest cumulative averages over 3 years in their respective law programs.
Alame, who immigrated from Beirut, Lebanon just over five years ago, decided to pursue law at the University of Windsor while becoming more familiar with the program offerings through his volunteerism. While obtaining his law degree, Alame continued to contribute to the community by volunteering extensively to assist Syrian refugees adapt to life in Canada. Prior to graduating, Alame won two Board of Governors in-course medals following his first and second year of law school, respectively. Also in his second year of law school, Alame was a Teaching Assistant for a Contract Law course and a proud member of the Windsor Review of Legal and Social Issues (WRLSI). He is currently articling at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Toronto.
Kaitlyn Drury was a licensed paralegal before making the decision to go to law school. While completing her studies in the Canadian & American Dual JD program – a partnership program between Windsor Law and Detroit Mercy Law – Drury was actively involved in the border cities. At Windsor Law, she assumed a mentorship role to first-year law students as part of the Peer Mentorship Program, served as a student advisor to the Career Services Office, acted as a facilitator for high school outreach, and volunteered for the Downtown Mission. In Michigan, Drury held an externship at the Federal District Court and served clients at the Federal Pro Se Clinic, helping people without lawyers. She is currently articling at Wildeboer Dellelce in Toronto.
The Board of Governors Graduation Medals are awarded to students with the highest academic standing in their program. The medals, which were intended to be awarded during Spring Convocation, will now be awarded to the recipients during the next convocation ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
