The 5th Annual Hockey Arbitration Competition of Canada (HACC) saw Windsor Law once again on the podium. Anthony Deluca and Peter Valente, both 3L’s, represented Windsor Law through to a second place finish. With 32 teams participating from Canada and the United States, Anthony and Peter faced some very tough competition.
The HACC gives participants an opportunity to sharpen their oral and written advocacy skills within the specialized context of an NHL salary arbitration proceeding. Sports lawyers, player agents and NHL team officials volunteered as guest arbitrators, adding an authentic flavor to the competition.
The HACC was launched in 2012 by Michael Alvaro (’14) and some colleagues at the University of Toronto Law School. In the inaugural competition, Windsor placed second but in 2013 secured gold with team members Ed Snetsinger and Pat Ganley. After finishing 2nd in 2015 and 2016, you can bet Windsor Law will be striving for another gold in 2017.
