Dean Christopher Waters and the team at Windsor Law’s LTEC Lab are pleased to announce the appointment of Karima Bawa as LTEC lab’s inaugural scholar-in-residence.
Karima Bawa is an expert in IP strategy and a Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance and Innovation (CIGI). There, she studies issues surrounding the commercialization of University R&D and capacity-building in IP strategy for Canadian innovators, and she also advises and supports technology start-ups. Ms. Bawa was Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at Research In Motion (BlackBerry) from 2000 - 2012, leading and managing the company’s IP portfolio. She holds a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Business Administration.
As scholar-in-residence at LTEC Lab, Ms. Bawa will work closely with Professor Myra Tawfik and the other members of the LTEC Lab team on IP research and outreach projects. Ms. Bawa will also act as a mentor to Windsor Law students.
LTEC Lab is a community that gathers Windsor University faculty, students and alumni whose research, teaching and experiential learning initiatives revolve around the theme of law and technology.
