Congratulations to our International Oxford IP Moot Team!
Students Vivian Ntiri, Rebecca Schild and Amanda Stevens made Windsor Law and their coach, Professor Pascale Chapdelaine, very proud throughout this highly prestigious moot competition.
In addition to displaying professionalism and excellence throughout the rounds, they displayed great camaraderie with the other students, coaches, judges and moot organizers. The Windsor Law team was a favourite at the competition.
In typical Windsor Law spirit, our students had the wonderful idea of designing branded stubby coolers depicting caricatures of the official mascots of the international community games of Erewhon (the fictitious jurisdiction) as part of the fact problem involving ambush marketing, trademarks, copyright, and freedom of expression issues. The organizers of the moot loved it so much that they mentioned it on many occasions during official dinners, speeches, etc...
We can always count on our students to bring originality, great sprit, and fun to so many of their endeavours!
Last, but certainly not least, the team's performance did not go unnoticed. Here is the list of their many accomplishments and prizes:
- Quarter finalists (top eight teams in the world)
- Third prize for best written submissions (over a total of 48 submissions)
- Third prize best mooter: Rebecca Schild
- Honourable mentions to Vivian Ntiri and Amanda Stevens who would have been second and third best mooters had they been eligible for the best mooters' prizes (that were only available to students who pleaded for each of the four preliminary rounds).
Coach Chapdelaine could not be prouder, ditto for the entire Windsor Law community. Well done women!
