Professor John Cerone, currently visiting professor at the Fletcher School at Tufts University, spoke with Al Jazeera English regarding the recent allegations of sexual abuse, exploitation and gross misconduct against the United Nation's Peacekeepers, and the complexity of moving forward in the judicial process for these cases.
Cerone, who worked with the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo, weighs in on investigations of the most recent cases in the Central African Republic. He discusses the complexity of jurisdiction in the cases of UN personnel, the difficulty of finding member states willing to contribute troops as UN peacekeepers, and the future of accountability for UN soldiers.
