Legal Assistance of Windsor is the lead organization in assisting survivors of human trafficking in Windsor and Essex County. L.A.W.'s Social Work Services Co-ordinator Shelley Gilbert, who also chairs Windsor-Essex Fights the International Growth of Human Trafficking, was quoted in today's Windsor Star saying that Windsor is indicative of other cities across Canada.
The article reports that the largest barrier Gilbert faces to spreading the word about human trafficking in our community "is the pervasive sense of disbelief."
