Valarie G. Waboose Appointed Current Ron Ianni scholar-in-residence.
Waboose is a Ph.D. candidate at Trent University in Indigenous Studies, and her teaching interests are primarily in the area of Native Studies. She has taught classes including Native People and the Law, Child Welfare issues, and Native Studies and Criminal Law in Aboriginal Communities. She is a member of the Three Fires Midewiwin Society and is interested in conducting research and expanding the knowledge in the areas of Anishinabe Indigenous knowledge and Indigenous research methodologies.
Her research interests incude how First Nations within Canada reconcile with their past, and her Ph.D. dissertation is entitiled, "Re-living the Residential School Experience: An Anishinabe Kwe's Examination of Compensation Processes for Residential School Survivors".
