Professor Maureen Irish gave a presentation on "Fragmentation and interpretation in WTO law" in London, Ontario on September 13, 2014, at an International Economic Law works-in-progress workshop hosted by Western Law (Canada-United States Law Institute) in conjunction with the Canada-U.S. Legal Studies Center, SUNY Buffalo Law School.
The presentation was based on an article on renewable energy and trade, to be published in the Canadian Yearbook of International Law, volume 51. In the article, Professor Irish analyses the recent WTO decision on the Ontario feed-in tariff for electricity, and discusses techniques of integrated interpretation for obligations arising under the World Trade Organization and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
