Group Fitness Classes

The Toldo Lancer Centre's extensive facilities allow us to offer a diverse range of group fitness programming, with multiple classes running simultaneously. We feature a dedicated spin room, a dedicated martial arts room, and two large multipurpose rooms.

As part of the University of Windsor, TLC provides flexible programming with new classes each semester, ensuring fresh and exciting options throughout the year. Students, staff and members can view the current offerings and schedule through the Lancer Recreation Registration website.

Lancer Fit Classes

LancerFit classes are group fitness sessions automatically included for all UWindsor students and in Full-Facility Memberships for faculty, full-time employees, alumni, and the community. Access includes HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), Run Crew, Spin , Kickboxing, Dance Fusion classes and many more! Lancer Fit classes are a fun and exciting way to stay active and meet new people in our vibrant community!

Maximize your workout by alternating sections of the class between cardio intervals on the bike, and strength work on the floor. The class is designed to be complementary so the cardio and strength work together to deliver an awesome full body workout. A great way to fit in both cardio and strength.

In this class you will learn to challenge your body to move to the music's rhythm allowing you to express yourself to your hearts content. A great way to relieve stress too. An action-packed workout that combines a series of basic traditional kickboxing punches and kicks in a series of combinations. This class improves strength, muscle-tone and endurance. It is a great workout for any participant looking for a challenge !!!!

A functional full-body program that trains both the muscular and cariovascular systems. Limitless features longer interval times and shorter rest periods. Modified from Canadian Air Force conditioning workouts, this class will truly test your limits.

Enhance your endurance, burn calories, and increase cardiovascular fitness during an up-beat 30-minute spin session. Post-spin you will participate in a 20-minute guided meditation where you will strive to achieve mental, emotional, and physical healing and stress relief. New to the University of Windsor? New to Canada? WELCOME! Lancer Recreation wants to invite you to come join us in an international student specific spin class! In a 30-minute high-energy stationary ride we will listen to music tailored to you! Not only will you be able to take a break from your studies but return to them with re-charged energy and possibly a new friend!

TLC Club Ride (Tempo, Lights, Choreo) A unique spin on your typical cycling class.  Come out for a fun ride that introduces beginners to various components of cycling fitness.  Learn about proper tempo and how to "feel" the right resistance all while experiencing great music and lights!

With over 20 years of teaching experience, Coco's classes are suitable for all levels, beginner to advanced. Integrating a variety of physical and meditative practices, from ancient to modern, fundamentals of proper breathing, proper posture, and proper relaxation are emphasized. Coco has expertise helping students with pain and mobility issues, and will suggest modifications, when needed, for a safe and effective practice.

On Wednesdays, enjoy a moderate-to-low-intensity session, including pranayama (breathing exercises) to relax and balance the nervous system, meditation to still the mind, and deep relaxation to rest the body. Please note: This fitness class takes place in the Education Gym attached to UWindsor's CAW Student Centre.

Instructional Classes 

For those seeking a fun and motivating environment to enhance their skills, Lancer Recreation’s Instructional Fitness Classes are a great option. Instructional Fitness Classes listed below require additional fees for all community, employee, and student memberships due to the advanced level of instruction.

Target your entire body with Pilates and yoga fusion movements that will leave you toned, sculpted and strong. Finish with breath work and other techniques to energize, soothe, or balance the energy in the body and nervous system. Please note that this program takes place on Main Campus in the Education Gym. Fall/Winter Sessions run for 15 weeks. Participants are welcome to try this class out for free during the first week.

Pilates uses a combination of repetitive exercises to create muscular exertion. Exercises can be adapted to provide either gentle strength training for rehabilitation or a strenuous workout vigorous enough to challenge skilled athletes. Participants of this class will experience strength gains throughout their total body while appearing more toned and lean.

Your favourite weight training class using dumbbells and other equipment. Come get stronger, more toned and more confident during our total body sculpt class. Please note that this program takes place on Main Campus in the Education Gym.

Kettlebell training has long been used to increase core stability and build overall strength.  This progressive class will give you the skills to implement kettlebell training into your own workouts and to expand your knowledge of kettlebell techniques.  Oh, but did we forget to mention that you'll also get a kick-ass workout while you're here!  Start your weekend early with this fun, dynamic program.

Come join the Latin dance lessons to try something new, improve your dance technique and experience the warmth of Latin energy expression.  In this class you will improve your technique allowing you to feel the music and bring more energy to the dance floor.  Participants should be comfortable in the beginner program before advancing. 

 

Martial Arts

Our club or Dojo is called Takeshima Dojo and is instructed by Kenji Takeshima Sensei. A 2016, 2002 World Karate Organization Gold medalist and 1998 Bronze medalist with 35+ years training experience and 20 years teaching / coaching experience. We welcome all levels of training experience and can't wait to meet you. Wing Chun! Learn the martial art made famous by the legendary Bruce Lee, featured in many Ip Man movies, and seen in many popular TV shows like Green Arrow. But unlike the movies, Wing Chun is suitable for everyone of any gender with no experience – in fact, it was developed to teach beginners a complete martial arts system in the least amount of time possible! Come learn in a great, fun, and friendly environment and really get to understand the how and why of martial arts.
