Challenge Course

The Iron Workers Challenge Course offers a dynamic blend of mental and physical challenges, designed to foster teamwork and goal achievement. Through a series of engaging and unconventional activities, participants gain valuable insights about themselves, their teammates, and the group as a whole. By stepping out of their usual environment and into a unique setting, the challenge course experience promotes shared learning, openness, and cooperation.

Elements

Participants in Challenge course

ASCEND Traverse

The ASCEND Traverse Kit includes a series of wooden boxes and various lumber pieces. These activities typically involve the group transporting themselves across the course. By rearranging these items, a wide range of activities can be created, offering diverse challenges and experiences.

Participants on the challenge course triangle element.

Bermuda Triangle

The Bermuda Triangle consists of three rails on three support poles forming an equilateral triangle. Activities can take place on:

  • The entire triangle, with the center pole as a problem-solving feature
  • The platform and all three rails
  • The platform only
  • All three rails (excluding the platform)
  • A single rail, often the notched base rail

Cargo Crossing

The Cargo Crossing features a wooden pallet suspended on an overhead cable and attached to a pulley system, allowing it to travel between columns (trees or poles). Activities often involve a "river crossing puzzle" where the group must transport themselves or items from one bank to another in the fewest trips. Puzzles vary by restricting which items can travel together, how many items can be transported at once, and which items can be safely left together.

Delta Team Traverse

The Delta Team Traverse features three cables, each three feet long, connected to three support columns forming an isosceles triangle. The equipment includes a movable platform and a long hand line, typically anchored at the triangle's apex. Activities can be designed for individuals, partners, or groups, offering versatile challenges.

Spider Web

Our durable spider's web is crafted from UV-resistant multi-line. Groups are tasked with solving various challenges involving the differently sized and positioned holes. This activity requires participants to plan, make decisions, set priorities, and trust one another.

Whale Watch

The Whale Watch features a platform balanced on a central fulcrum.

Zig Zag

The Zig Zag features five posts with slots and four spans, but only three boards. The spans differ subtly in length—two short and two long—requiring the group to move the boards between spans and determine which boards fit where. Boundary lines at the start and end keep participants within the designated area, encouraging them to traverse the boards instead of walking on the ground.

Four-Pole

The Four-Pole is designed to offer diverse programming options and create exciting opportunities for participants to develop group skills. It also provides the option to run individual challenge elements. These activities cater to a wide range of participants, with a particular focus on fostering group skills and leadership.
