General Interest Camps

General Interest Summer Camps offer a variety of theme camps for all age groups and skill levels. Our fun, energetic, and dedicated student staff will provide your child with opportunities to develop skills in specific camps, foster a better understanding of sportsmanship and leadership, and, most importantly, have fun. From Hogwarts-themed camps to science-based camps and camps that explore arts and creative interests, there is something for everybody.

Camp Descriptions

Description: Our Little Lancers Camp will provide children ages 4-5 the opportunity to enhance their physical literacy skills. They are introduced to a variety of sports that will encourage fundamental movement skills, participation, and fun. Throughout the week campers will also be involved in crafts, team building and group activities; as well as, daily swimming.

Ages: 4-5 years old (co-ed).

Offerings: 8 weeks.

Times: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Description: Our Junior Lancer Sports Camp will provide sports-enthusiasts ages 6-8 the opportunity to experience a variety of sports; that may include but are not limited to: soccer, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, track and field. Throughout the week campers will also participate in team building and group activities; as well as, daily swimming.

Ages: 6-8 years old, co-ed.

Offerings: 8 weeks.

Times: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Description: Our Intermediate Lancer Sports Camp just like Junior Lancers will provide sports-enthusiasts the opportunity to experience a variety of sports; that may include but are not limited to: soccer, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, track and field. As a steppingstone to Senior Lancers, campers ages 9-10 will learn a variety of sport specific skills and techniques. Throughout the week campers will also participate in team building and group activities; as well as, daily swimming.

Ages: 9-10 years old, co-ed.

Offerings: 8 weeks.

Times: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Description: Senior Lancer Sports Camp will provide sports-enthusiasts between the ages of 11-13 the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports; that may include but are not limited to: soccer, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, track and field. As the most senior level sport camp, participants will be given the chance to refine and enhance their specific skills and techniques. Throughout the week campers will also participate in team building, group activities and daily swimming.

Ages: 11-13 years old, co-ed.

Offerings: 8 weeks.

Times: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Description: Lancer Leaders is a Leaders in Training (LIT) camp for high school students (13 year old must be entering high school) aspiring to work in a summer camp environment in the future. This two-week co-ed camp will include a one-day Standard First Aid and CPR course, a one-day Red Cross Babysitting course and the opportunity to complete the provincially mandated 40 hours of community service. During their first week, campers will complete the two courses, in class leadership seminars and team building activities. Successful candidates of the first week will grant campers the opportunity to be placed in one of our Lancer Summer Camps during week two. This will provide valuable hands-on experience in leadership while satisfying the requirements of their 40 community service hours.

Ages: 13-16 years old, co-ed.

Description: Our Lancer Summer Dance Camp is open to all dancers aged 6-12 years old. Upon arrival, participants will be divided by age and experience to learn the basics of various dance styles in a fun and creative atmosphere. Each day will include a warm-up, choreography, crafts and swimming. The week will end with a final showcase which will exhibit what the dancers have learned from their dance teachers.

Ages: 6-12 years old.

Description: The Girls in Motion Camp is designed for girls to develop their Physical Literacy. Physical Literacy as defined by Sports For Life and other Canadian Physical Education Organizations is the mastering of fundamental movement skills and fundamental sports skills that will allow a child to move confidently and with control in a wide range of physical activity situations. Girls will learn and develop their knowledge of the importance of physical activity, sport and fitness but also health, wellness and self-esteem.

Ages: 6-12 years old, and campers who identify as female.

Offerings: Week 4 and 6.

Times: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Description: This camp will start by reviewing the basic objectives, rules, running patterns and strategic design plays of Football. Participants will complete multiple combine physical metrics; such as, 40 yard dash, broad jump, etc. followed by a scrimmage. They will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun low organization team building activities and swim at the end of the day!

Ages: 10-14 years old, campers who identify as female.

Offerings: Saturday, July 20, 2024.

Description: FAHSS Academy at UWindsor invites your muggle, witch or wizard to take part in hands-on Arts, Humanities & Social Science activities that will strengthen their application to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. During registration campers will be divided by age: junior camp is for ages 7-9 and senior camp is for ages 10-12. They will be introduced to a variety of programs, including art, music, drama, communications and film through fun activities with a Harry Potter theme. This is a full day camp in which the education portion is a half day that will take place in classrooms and meeting spaces in buildings such as Dillon Hall, Jackman Dramatic Art and the CAW Student Centre. The other half of the day will include outdoor activities and swimming at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

Ages: 7-9 years old and 10-12 years old, co-ed.

Offerings: Weeks 1 and 2.

Times: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Description: Campers will embark on a hero’s journey of self-exploration and compelling storytelling as they write their very own super (short) story. This camp focuses on the genre of flash fiction through a variety of creative writing activities. Campers will have the opportunity to get crafty by creating a group publication (chapbook) to bring home by the end of the week. This is a full day camp in which the education portion is a half day that will take place in classrooms and meeting spaces in buildings such as Dillon Hall, Jackman Dramatic Art and the CAW Student Centre. The other half of the day will include outdoor activities and swimming at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

Ages: 10-12 years old and 12-14 years old, co-ed.

Description: Engineering at UWindsor invites you to take part in hands-on engineering activities. During registration, campers will be divided by age: junior camp is ages 8-9 and senior camp is ages 10-12. They will be introduced to a variety of engineering related concepts, including aerodynamics, forces and motion, fluid dynamics, material strength, and the design process. This is a full day camp in which the educational portion is a half day that will take place in our state-of-the-art engineering building on campus, the Ed Lumley Centre of Engineering Innovation (CEI). The other half of the day will include outdoor activities and swimming at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

Ages: 8-9 years old and 10-12 years old, co-ed

Offerings: Weeks 3 and 5.

Description: Our Science camp program will introduce campers to the world of possibilities in science. During registration campers will be divided by age: junior camp is ages 7-9 and senior camp is ages 10-12. Each day of camp will focus on a different area of science relevant to our everyday experiences, such as health, the environment and the physical sciences. Activities will include mini-experiments, projects, demonstrations and science-themed games. This is a full day camp in which the educational portion is a half day that will take place in the Faculty of Science, primarily in Essex Hall. While the other half of the day, will include outdoor activities and swimming at the Toldo Lancer Centre. 

Ages: 7-9 years old and 10-12 years old, co-ed.

Description: My Safe Life will take place online at the comfort of your own home and is a personal safety program designed for children 7 – 10 years. Traditional gaming, digital media, video, role play and repetition are used to educate and engage children in a fun and interactive manner. Children learn life skills that empower them to make safe, caring, and respectful decisions in their everyday lives both online and offline.

Ages: 7-10 years old, co-ed.

Offerings: Thursday, July 11 and August 8, 2024.

Time: 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM.

Description: Is your child ready to stay home alone? The Home Alone Safety for Kids program will take place online at the comfort of your own home and helps children and their families get ready for their child’s first steps towards independence and being without adult supervision for short periods of time. This safety program is ideally suited for children aged 9-12 years old. Safety and accident prevention are the common themes throughout the program. The information is relevant and current to today’s young learners.

Ages: 9-12 years old, co-ed.

Description: This babysitter training course is designed for youth aged 11 – 15 and will take place online at the comfort of your own home. Participants learn how to run a small babysitting business and how to supervise younger siblings or other children in a safe and responsible manner. Aspiring babysitters also learn basic first aid skills.
