Dr. Martin is a full professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where he has been for the last 24 years. He has published over 175 research articles and book chapters and has received over $5.0 million in federal funding to support his research programs. His major research agenda is on the psychosocial aspects of disability sport and physical activity. Other research lines include a focus on understanding physical activity engagement with underserved children in urban settings and the psychology of distance running. He has published extensively in the Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly, the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education and the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. He is the founding Editor of Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology and the incoming Editor of the Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly.
