Minimum Funding for Doctoral Students

Beginning in the first term of 2025/2026 academic year (Summer 2025), all new, incoming full-time PhD students will receive an offer that outlines a minimum funding guarantee. This funding may be from a variety of sources including: Graduate entrance scholarship, provincial and/or national level scholarships, departmental and/or donor sponsored scholarships, research assistantship, graduate teaching assistantship, industry contracts etc.

The minimum funding for each Faculty can be found below, including the anticipated annual funding.

The average doctoral student funding by faculty for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years are presented so you can see the actual funding provided.

If you are awarded a Graduate Entrance Scholarship you will receive two copies of a notice of funding – one attached to your offer of admission and one uploaded by your program. This is to ensure any additional sources of funding from your program and/or supervisor are known to you at the time of admission. You are only being offered a single graduate entrance scholarship and graduate assistantship.
