Professor Brian Dixon's research focuses on fish immune systems and the impact of the environment in their function. He is an expert in the processes by which fish detect and respond to viruses and bacteria, the influence of environmental factors such as contaminants and temperature on fish immunity, as well as the genetics of fish immune systems in populations. He currently works on both wild and aquaculture species, including Rainbow Trout, Atlantic Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Artic Charr and Walleye.
