Dr. Christina Semeniuk named one of two new Faculty of Science Research Chairs

GLIER and Department of Integrative biology researcher Dr. Christina Semeniuk was named one of two inagural Faculty of Science Research Chairs, along with Dr. Drew Marquardt in Chemistry and biochemistry.  Dr. Semeniuk's research will focus on how fish species will adapt to climate change. 

She states "I’ll engage with government, non-government organizations, and Indigenous communities to focus on the big questions arising from rapid ecological change" and adds further “First: how does behavioural flexibility mediate an individual’s ability to persist in situ or shift to more suitable habitat, and second: how do these behavioural traits integrate with underlying physiological or gene-expression phenotypes to generate the adaptive capacity to cope with climate change?”
