Applying to the GLIER Graduate Program

All Environmental Science applicants must contact a prospective faculty supervisor from GLIER prior to applying to the program. 

In order for the application to be successful, the applicant must secure an endorsement from a faculty supervisor who will be willing to provide support for their research project in keeping with the graduate program requirements.  Applicants must clearly identify their prospective supervisor in the Statement of Interest provided during the application process (list of GLIER faculty)

Doctoral Program: 


The GLIER Graduate Committee looks for:

  • excellent academic records (at least a B+ in the last 2 years of academic study) that include strong backgrounds in one or more of the basic disciplines (e.g. biology, chemistry, earth sciences) and

  • previous work in the disciplines related to the intended area of concentration.

  • letters of recommendation, the applicant's letter of intent, and evidence of research activity (peer-reviewed publications, submissions to scholarly journals, presentations at conferences, attendance at workshops).

Master’s Program:


The GLIER Graduate Committee looks for:

English Language Proficiency Score Equivalencies are required for International student applications:

TOEFL Paper based score required is 560, Computer based score is 220, Internet based score is 83.

MELAB is 80

CAEL is 70

IELTS is 6.5

Duolingo is 120

GLIER does not require a GRE.

 

Apply to GLIER

Once you have communicated with a GLIER supervisor, click on  Apply to the University of Windsor Graduate Program and choose the Environmental Science graduate program from your list of options.
 

Assessment

The GLIER Graduate Committee will review your full application and prepare a confidential assessment of your suitability for the Environmental Science graduate program. On the basis of a recommendation from the GLIER Graduate Committee, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research will determine whether you are admitted into the program. Their decision will be based on your prospective advisor’s confidential assessment, his or her ability and willingness to fund and support your studies, and on your academic and research qualifications.
