The Master of Applied Science in Engineering (MASc) appeals to individuals who want to expand their knowledge in specific fields, as well as develop their research and analytical abilities. MASc students will typically attend a minimum of four courses and undertake a supervised thesis lasting approximately 12 months that researches an advanced engineering topic.
The Master of Applied Science degree is offered in the following areas:
Civil Engineering
Within Civil Engineering, the available fields are Structural Engineering and Water Resources Engineering. In the Structures field, research encompasses ACM, structural dynamics, fatigue damage assessment, steel, concrete technology, soil mechanics, and foundations. In the Water Resources field, research is in hydraulics, hydrology, and hydrogeology.
Environmental Engineering
In the Environmental Engineering program, research focuses on air and water quality and modeling, wastewater and industrial waste treatment, and ground water contamination.
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Research is carried out in the broadly defined area of Signals and Systems. Within the area of Signals and Systems such research topics as digital signal processing, microsystems, communications and computers are investigated.
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Engineering Materials
Research is concentrated on the physical, mechanical, tribological, chemical and processing aspects of materials. Particular research topics include: Material Design & Development; Material Processing; Mechanical Properties of Materials; Light Metals Casting Technology and Tribology (Wear) Research.
Industrial Engineering
The MASc program in Industrial Engineering is designed to meet the clear and growing need for highly qualified personnel trained to have a deep appreciation for the important systems issues in manufacturing and prepare candidates for an academic career in teaching, research or leadership roles in industrial research and development.
Mechanical Engineering
MASc programs are offered in the areas of Machine Dynamics and Design, and Thermo-Fluids.
