REVISED FINAL YEAR REQUIREMENTS OPTIONS – MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Follow Undergraduate Calendar for Fall 2021 with the following adjustments

Semester 7 (Winter) students ALL OPTIONS:

Must enrol in:            MECH 3224     Engineering Measurements

                                   MECH-4200    Capstone Design

                                   MECH-4211    Design for Failure Prevention

                                   MECH-4218    Thermofluid Systems Design

Read below carefully for the other courses to enroll in.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - GENERAL

Students may choose PATH A or PATH B (new path as we transition to an updated curriculum).

PATH A:

Students must complete six technical elective courses, must follow these rules

A minimum of two must be numbered MECH-32XX, 42XX
A maximum of two may be numbered MECH-34XX, MECH-44XX
A maximum of two may be numbered MECH-36XX, MECH-46XX
A maximum of two may be numbered MECH-38XX, MECH-48XX

A maximum of two outside of MECH-XXXX

Technical Electives to choose from:

MECH-3671    Aerospace Materials and Mfg.

MECH4240-5  Advanced Mechatronics

MECH-4250    Gas Dynamics

MECH-4253    Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

MECH-4463    Vehicle Dynamics

MECH-4471    Auto Materials and Mfg

MECH-4670    Aerospace Propulsion

PATH B**:

Must enrol in:                 MECH 4253     Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

Enrol in one (optional):  MECH-4250    Gas Dynamics

                                        MECH 4240-5 Advanced Mechatronics

Notes:

  1. Students in Path B must complete MECH 4253 - HVAC, MECH 3215 - Mechanical Vibrations, and two Mechanical General technical electives from MECH-32XX or MECH-42XX.  In Winter 2025 students can take MECH 4240-5 or 4250 or wait until Summer 2025 to complete final MECH-32XX or MECH-42XX course, given one technical elective was completed prior to Winter 2025.
  2. Students must follow either Path A or Path B and will not be permitted to mix the requirements of Path A and Path B.
  3. Path B will not be found in the Undergraduate Academic Calendar.  This pathway combines the changes made for 4th year of the Fall 2023 calendar with the previous year curriculum in previous calendars.  Questions regarding this pathway should be reviewed with the MAME Academic Advisors at MAMadviseUG@uwindsor.ca.
