Four civil and environmental engineering students at the University of Windsor think they have come up with a way to make it safer to travel a heavily used section of the E.C. Row Expressway between Dougall Avenue and Walker Road.
Along that section, the westbound E.C. Row off-ramp at Howard Avenue had more mid-block collisions than any other road monitored for the City of Windsor 2012 Road Safety Report. There were 40 accidents and an average of 10,000 vehicles per day using the ramp from 2008-2012.
“That stretch is dangerous,” said 21-year-old student Vincent Colussi. “It needs help. It’s going to get worse (as traffic in the area increases).”
