On November 2, Dr. Lindsey Jaber concluded her role as Associate Dean of Teacher Education. Her tenure, which began in January 2024, has been marked by exceptional leadership and a dedicated effort to enhance the student experience. Dr. Ken Montgomery, Dean of the Faculty of Education, praised Dr. Jaber for her commitment, leadership and attention to detail.
“Dr. Jaber has worked tirelessly to support our students and elevate the quality of our programs,” Dr. Montgomery stated. “Her decision to step down was not an easy one, and we fully support her during this transition.”
In light of Dr. Jaber’s departure, Dr. Shijing Xu, a long-serving full Professor and Canada Research Chair holder within the Faculty of Education, will assume the role of Acting Associate Dean for approximately six months, until May 2025. Montgomery expressed his gratitude to Dr. Xu for her willingness to step into this role on short notice.
“We have every confidence that Dr. Xu will provide strong and effective leadership during this transitional period.”
The Faculty of Education will be establishing an Associate Dean search committee in the coming weeks with a goal of appointing the next Associate Dean of Teacher Education by May 2025.
