
The Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor is excited to announce the promotion of Dr. Naved Bakali, Dr. James Oloo, and Dr. Catherine Vanner to Associate Professor with tenure.
Their promotion that will take effect July 1, 2025, follows a unanimous recommendation from both the Faculty of Education Renewal, Tenure, and Promotion Committee and the University Committee on Academic Promotion and Tenure.
Recognized for his impactful research, Dr. Bakali has received numerous international, national, and departmental grants and awards. He is an active scholar who combines research with grassroots activism, aiming to challenge prejudice and inequality through socially oriented action-research.
Dr. James Oloo’s research explores ways of improving learning experiences for all students, while striving to better understand factors and conditions that enhance success among underrepresented students, including Indigenous students, and those from immigrant and refugee backgrounds.
Dr. Catherine Vanner’s research spans North America, Africa, and transnational contexts, incorporating feminist critical theories and perspectives. Her work contributes significantly to understanding and addressing gender-based challenges in education worldwide.
