Margo Regan

Director of The Hollow for University Players.

Margo Regan is an actress, director, teacher/coach and most recently a playwright. In the past twenty years she has been involved in more than sixty theatrical productions in one or more of these capacities. She has just completed her sixth year teaching acting, voice, and theatre studies in the Department of Theatre at the University of Regina and has taught previously at the University of South Carolina and the University of Victoria. Productions directed for the University’s Riddell Centre in Regina include: The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, And Baby Makes Seven, Transit of Venus, The Water Children, Charming and Rose: True Love and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Previous directing credits include Defying Gravity, Perfect Pie, The Baby Dance, (Theatre South Carolina) The Learned Ladies, Simpatico (University of Calgary), The Love of the Nightingale, Village Wooing/Overruled and A View From the Bridge (Phoenix Theatres/University of Victoria).  As an actress, she has appeared with the Saskatchewan Playwrights’ Centre’s Spring Festival for New Plays in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Additional stage credits include Measure for Measure (Mistress Overdone), Buried Child (Halie), You Can’t Take It With You (Penny) and Look Homeward, Angel (Mrs. Pert), all for Theatre South Carolina. Other favourite roles include Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit, Sophie Greengrass in Social Security, Miss Fellowes in Night of the Iguana and Madame de Montreuil in Madame de Sade. She can be seen in the feature films Vampire Dog, I Heart Regina, 45RPM and City of Champions. For CBC Radio’s Sound Xchange, she has been heard numerous times reading both prose and poetry. From 2000-2005, she served as voice/speech/dialect coach for twenty-five productions with Theatre South Carolina, and in January of 2005, presented a voice workshop entitled Public Voice for Every Discipline at the International Conference for the Arts in Honolulu. Her first play for the theatre, Gaudeamus, received an Equity workshop/reading for Spring Festival 2010 in Regina. She is currently at work on her second play, No Sugar for Candy.  She received her Acting training in New York at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, of which she is a graduate, and subsequently in San Francisco at the American Conservatory Theatre. She has an MFA in Directing from the University of Calgary and an MA in Drama from the University of Alberta.
