Voice of the University of Windsor to remain on the line in retirement

“Good morning. Thank you for calling the University of Windsor.” For years, that recorded message greeted people phoning the University, and made Linda Ruccolo the voice of the institution.

Ruccolo began her campus career in the telecommunications department of Information Technology Services in 1981, and closed it earlier this year, retiring from Athletics and Recreational Services.

Her daughter Amanda Ruccolo — recreation and facilities co-ordinator in the same department — says Linda provided a welcoming presence to those entering the Toldo Lancer Centre: “Whether by phone or in person, the most vibrant and warm introduction was offered to all.”

And she expects friends and colleagues will continue to run into Linda Ruccolo on campus.

“Trust me, you will still see and hear her in the stands cheering on our Lancer athletes for decades to come. She bleeds blue and gold!”
