The Campus Community Police Service is seeking information in a theft that occurred August 12 in the Leddy Library. A white Macintosh laptop went missing about 2 p.m. and shortly thereafter a suspect was seen leaving the building carrying a similar computer.
Already offered for sale on the local authors shelf at the University Bookstore, a solo CD by a constable with the Campus Community Police Service is now also available at the Chapters outlet in the Devonshire Mall.
Kevin Jarvis’ album, Beautifully Gloomy, retails for $15. It contains seven original songs by Jarvis, who has been playing guitar and singing since he was 17 years old. He describes his sound as “acoustic rock.”
Campus Community Police have issued a crime advisory warning of bicycle thefts on campus in recent weeks, along with descriptions of two persons of interest and a list of tips to deter thieves.

As much as he loves his job as a special constable with the Campus Community Police Service, music is his real passion, says Kevin Jarvis.
“It’s kind of cathartic to have this outlet,” he says. “This is my way to unload and just let things go.”
Jarvis has been playing guitar and singing since he was 17 years old and has just released his first solo CD, seven original songs he composed despite having no formal training in music.
“Some people can sit down with a pen and paper and write songs,” he says. “I would rather just get together and do it.”
A benefit barbecue for UWindsor carpenter Bernie Mulligan ran out of food before it ran out of enthusiasm, organizers said Tuesday.
“We sold the last of our hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken and still had takers,” said Campus Police sergeant Floyd Porter.
The barbecue ran out shortly after 1 p.m. and had planned to serve until 2 p.m.
"That just goes to show you how eager people were to help out," Porter said.
The event raised more than $2,700 to offset costs associated with an experimental treatment to fight Mulligan’s cancer.
Members of the Campus Community Police Service will host a lunchtime barbecue today – Tuesday, April 17 – to benefit Bernie Mulligan, a UWindsor carpenter undergoing treatment for cancer.
The event will run 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the eastern entrance to the CAW Student Centre and will feature hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as live music by Campus Police officers.
